The Ashes Barn Staffordshire Wedding Photography

Autumn at The Ashes Barn is a pretty lovely combination. The changing colours, the old barns and the lanes around the venue all give you plenty to work with photographically, even when the weather can't quite make up its mind.

I had the pleasure of photographing an autumn wedding at The Ashes Barn in Staffordshire, working alongside my good friend Deb from Stott Weddings. Although I was there as a second photographer rather than as the couple's main photographer, it was another fantastic day at this beautiful Staffordshire wedding venue.

My day started with the groom getting ready in the cosy wedding cottage before we headed through for the ceremony in the barn. The weather was changeable throughout the day but thankfully we had some opportunities to get outside and make the most of the autumn colours.

One of my favourite parts of photographing weddings is finding those little pockets of time where we can step away from everything else for a few photographs. The lane beside the venue gave us some beautiful autumn colour and a chance to create some relaxed portraits without taking the couple away from their day for too long.

Back inside, the day continued with speeches and plenty of lovely moments with family and friends. I always enjoy photographing this part of a wedding because there is so much happening naturally. Reactions, laughter and those little moments between people often tell you far more about the day than a perfectly posed photograph ever could.

As the evening drew in, we finished outside in the courtyard with some fun sparkler photographs. There is something about sparkler photographs at an autumn wedding that just works, especially when you have the warm stone of the courtyard and the darker evening sky around you.

I stayed until just before the first dance, so by the time I left the couple had had a full day of photographs, from groom preparations through to the evening celebrations.

It was a brilliant day and a lovely reminder of why The Ashes Barn is such a popular Staffordshire wedding venue. Whether I'm photographing a wedding there as the main photographer or working alongside another photographer as a second shooter, there is always something to photograph and plenty of opportunities to capture the day in a relaxed and natural way.

I would love the opportunity to photograph one of my own couples at The Ashes Barn in the future but I'm also very happy to have had the chance to photograph this one alongside Deb.
