A Relaxed Summer Wedding at Gorcott Hall, Redditch
This wedding was a first for me in more ways than one. Not only did I have the pleasure of working alongside Michelle of Silverstar Photographic once again, but it was also my first time photographing a wedding at the beautiful Gorcott Hall in Redditch and it certainly made an impression.
Surrounded by immaculately kept grounds and timeless architecture, Gorcott Hall feels both elegant and welcoming, offering the perfect backdrop for couples who want their wedding day to feel relaxed, thoughtful and full of atmosphere.
A Joyful Couple and a Day Full of Connection
Hayley and Harvey were an absolute joy to work with. From the very beginning of the day, everything felt calm, warm and full of genuine happiness. Their guests mirrored that energy, smiling, laughing and truly present which made documenting the day feel completely natural.
Rather than filling the day with rigid structure, the couple focused on creating an experience their guests would enjoy. A wedding-themed crazy golf setup proved a huge hit, especially with the sunshine encouraging everyone outdoors. It added a fun, personal element to the day and created so many lovely, unscripted moments.
Sunshine, Showers & Thoughtful Details
The weather played its part beautifully, with sunshine for most of the day and just a brief spell of rain arriving as guests were being seated for the wedding breakfast, so perfectly timed.
As confetti isn’t permitted at Gorcott Hall, Hayley and Harvey chose bubbles as an alternative. It was a simple but thoughtful decision that worked wonderfully, creating a light, joyful atmosphere and photographing beautifully in the summer light.
Bridal Party Fun with a Playful Edge
For some relaxed and energetic bridal party photographs, we introduced orange, white and green smoke bombs. Used carefully, they added a sense of fun and movement to the images and brought a playful edge to the gallery, a lovely reflection of the couple and their day.
An Effortlessly Elegant Wedding Day
The entire day had an effortlessly elegant feel. Hayley’s style was timeless and refined, and every part of the celebration felt thoughtfully considered without ever being formal or overdone. It was relaxed, beautiful and full of warmth, the kind of wedding where the focus stays firmly on people, connection and shared moments.
These are the days I love photographing most: weddings that prioritise meaning over perfection and value the experience as much as the photographs themselves.
Documentary Wedding Photography at Gorcott Hall
The day was wonderfully full and a genuine pleasure to photograph. I work in a documentary, storytelling style, quietly capturing moments as they naturally unfold — the laughter, the interactions and the atmosphere that makes each wedding unique. For couple portraits, I always try to keep these natural and simply add a little direction to each couple and let them tell their love story accordingly. When I am second shooting, I just capture different angles and use a little creativity.
All of my work is photographed using Fujifilm cameras, chosen for their colour, depth and timeless feel, perfectly suited to natural and heartfelt wedding photography.
If you’re planning a wedding at Gorcott Hall or elsewhere in the Midlands or across the UK and you value relaxed, meaningful photography that reflects how your day truly felt, I’d love to hear more about your plans.
