Mercure Newton Park Hotel, Staffordshire Wedding Photography

The Venue

Becky and Jonny chose to have the ceremony and reception with afternoon tea all at the Newton Park Hotel.

The Newton Park Hotel is situated just outside the quaint village of Newton Solney in Derbyshire. It’s such a beautiful place. The Newton Park Hotel is very special to me as back in 2008, we held our wedding reception here so it was great to be back and see all the latest refurbishments. So what can I tell you about the Newton Park hotel? Well it’s Georgian and in the hotel’s own words it boasts….

A stylish blend of traditional and contemporary design set in 8 acres of landscaped gardens creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere throughout this stunning four star Grade II listed country manor hotel.

It was a late afternoon wedding and very relaxed. I got to photograph Becky’s bridal preparations in one of the many beautiful suits the hotel has. Becky wore a Sincerity bridal gown and looked amazing in it. The guys opted for smart suits themed with purple and green waistcoats and ties - well a purple shirt for the groom.

As soon as Becky had put on her dress, If truth be known, I was moved to tears..why? Well I’ve known Becky since she was two and my daughter went to school with her and Becky’s parents used to childmind my two children at the time while I was working. So to be asked to photograph such a wonderful occasion was quite an honour. I couldn’t have been happier. Sharing such a momentous day is always one filled with love.

After the ceremony there were a few family portraits before (all I can say is that Becky’s bridesmaids were a scream to work with and you’ll see why. I honestly did not set these less formal photos up, they just happened.). And yes I took photos - and yes I’ve posted them in my blog. I did umm and errrr about it but it’s done and hopefully can bring a smile or at least an oops gasp etc.

After the photos we headed back indoors for afternoon tea. As there were no formal speeches at that time, I went home to get changed and pick up the rest of the Smith clan for the evening party. Derek the father of the bride gave his speech just after the first dance. I then popped the cameras away to enjoy the party. So here’s the photo slideshow of one fun Springtime wedding at the Newton Park Hotel, full of giggles, love and laughter which I photographed back in 2017 - and I didn’t blog it at the time.

When our friend's daughter got married it was a great honour to be asked to photograph it. Having held our wedding reception at the Newton Park back in 2008, it was great to see it once again all revamped!
