Peak District Wedding Photography - Workshop S6

It’s been a busy time of late with weddings and pet photography, so haven’t really had much opportunity to write a blog.

I thought I’d share a selection of images that I took from a workshop I did some time ago in the heart of the Peak District. It was a great workshop organised by Jon, proprietor of S6 Photography near Sheffield. This was my second wedding workshop with him. This workshop wasn’t your ordinary kind of training, it was more hands on so you directed your own shots, rather than plonk a model there and shoot away. I’m a more natural wedding photographer so I prefer to let my clients simply be themselves with a little direction from me. I love searching out the light :).

I don’t really do a lot of posing in an editorial way like you see in magazines or Pinterest, where it is simply perfect. I’m very relaxed about it all and not because I can’t do it, I’ve just chosen not to shoot that way. That’s just me and my style and I’m still creative, I just move around a little more and shoot different angles. Some work, some don’t and that’s the art of photography.

The Peak District has some epic views and stunning locations for the perfect wedding photos giving not only epic scenes but it’s all so different in terms of light and textures in all seasons. I’m up for an adventure should any of my clients who happen to have a wedding within the Peak District want to take time out from the reception to head for the hills or the winding roads surrounding the local area! Mam Tor is perfect when it’s not exceptionally windy!

So the workshop began on a farm located just outside Sheffield. Utilising the local amenities such as large storage containers, barns and yes a tractor I came away with varied wedding photographs from each couple. After this, the group headed into the Peak District, with Clare and Tom somewhere near Stanage Edge, near Hathersage! Rocks, hills, long grasses, brilliant blue skies and sunshine were all on offer, it truly was great and it gave me an opportunity to find my feet editing wise and my style hasn’t much deviated from these today! So I’ll let the images do the rest of the talking…..
