Meg and Corey’s Wedding in Swadlincote, Stretton and Burton upon Trent

couple looking at each other with dark grey skies

Some weddings have a little bit of everything, and Meg and Corey’s wedding was one of those days. From a Porsche arrival and a church ceremony with a little unexpected rain to beautiful countryside portraits and fish and chips with their guests, it was a lovely day to be part of.

I was working alongside the lovey Holly Jo Photography, who was the couple’s main photographer and I joined the day for the latter part of groom prep before heading to the church for the ceremony and following Meg and Corey through the rest of their celebrations.

Groom prep in Swadlincote

I joined the boys towards the end of their preparations in Swadlincote, where there was just enough time to capture those final moments before everything got underway.

The groom and his best man made their arrival in a Porsche, which certainly made for a smart entrance before we headed over to St Mary's Church in Stretton for the ceremony.

A church wedding at St Mary’s, Stretton

There is something lovely about a church wedding, and Meg and Corey’s ceremony was no exception.

The weather decided to make itself known as the ceremony got underway, with rain arriving just in time to have us reaching for the umbrellas. Thankfully, it eased off a little, giving us the chance to continue with the day without letting the weather spoil anything.

And honestly, a little British weather is all part of the story. Your wedding day doesn't need perfect sunshine from start to finish to give you photographs full of memories.

Countryside wedding portraits near Clay Mills

After the ceremony, we headed to a lovely stretch of farmland near Clay Mills Pumping Station for some photographs of Meg and Corey together.

By this point, the rain had mostly stopped, although we had the occasional bit of drizzle to contend with. It was a lovely setting for a few portraits away from the bustle of the wedding day, with the surrounding countryside giving Meg and Corey some space to enjoy a little time together.

I always love having the opportunity to take couples somewhere a little different for their photographs. You don't necessarily need an elaborate backdrop or a perfectly sunny afternoon. Sometimes, a beautiful rural setting and a little time together are all you need.

Fish and chips at Burton Town Hall

From the countryside, it was on to Burton Town Hall for the reception, where the celebrations continued with family and friends.

And what better way to feed your wedding guests than with a fish and chip van? It was a lovely, relaxed touch to the day, and I can confirm the food was delicious!

I love seeing couples make their wedding day their own, choosing the things they enjoy rather than feeling they have to follow a particular formula. Whether that's a traditional wedding breakfast or fish and chips served from a van, it's those personal touches that make a celebration feel like you.

Evening portraits and the start of the celebrations

As the evening got underway, we took the opportunity to capture a few more portraits of Meg and Corey around Burton Town Hall.

The atmosphere was beginning to change as the day moved towards the evening celebrations, and it was lovely to finish with a few more photographs of the two of them together before the dancing began.

My coverage finished as the evening celebrations got going, leaving Meg and Corey and their guests to enjoy the rest of the night.

It was a pleasure to work alongside Holly and be part of Meg and Corey's wedding day, capturing these moments as their story unfolded.
