Somersal Herbert Parish Wedding near Ashbourne, Derbyshire

Well what can I say about this rather beautiful, DIY countryside themed wedding that took place in a small hamlet village of Somersal Herbert near Ashbourne. I love weddings like this they’re so relaxed and hold a special place in my heart being a countryside loving girl!

The celebrations began early morning with the bridal and groom preparations where beer cans were opened and the bubbly fizzed its way into tall crystal glasses. The bride and groom had hired the farm (which is a non-working farm that rents out the house for holiday guests to enjoy and adjacent barns for their wedding day, with a marquee on the land across the road. It was such a beautiful setting.

The ceremony was to be held at the local parish church in the village where the bride, groom and the bridal party plus numerous guests would walk too. How cool!

The ceremony part was very personal to the couple and during the signing, the couple’s friends (from the amateur operatics society) sang to keep guests entertained and they were exceptionally good.

After the ceremony guests gathered outside the church to congratulation the couple on finally tying the knot with copious amounts of dried petals in the way of confetti! There was a lot of it. After which a short walk back to the main reception venue for drinks and canapes. The photo session was hilarious with photobombers, fits of giggles and just a lot of fun. After which the bride and groom would be seated for the wedding breakfast and some super speeches especially from the best men! David, the groom is an Amateur Actor and it’s no surprise that’s how the couple met. It’s no surprise either that he has played the roles of many a Dame in pantomime.

An extremely cool, relaxed laid back wedding which I loved from start to finish…. .
