A Beautiful Spring Wedding at Foxtail Barns

In early April 2024, I had the pleasure of assisting my talented friend, Holly Whitehall, at a beautifully relaxed spring wedding held at Foxtail Barns in Staffordshire. Set within the scenic grounds of the old Consall Hall Estate, Foxtail Barns is a dream venue for any couple looking for a stylish countryside celebration—and a dream location for wedding photographers, too.

A Peaceful Morning at the Lodges

My day began quietly at a set of nearby woodland lodges, where the groom and his groomsmen were getting ready. The atmosphere was calm and full of laughter, and I focused on capturing those natural, unposed moments—the subtle anticipation, the finishing touches, and the camaraderie among friends.

These pre-ceremony hours always feel incredibly personal. It’s a chance to witness and document the quieter side of a wedding day before all the big celebrations unfold.

Rustic Elegance at Foxtail Barns

From the moment I arrived at Foxtail Barns, I was reminded why it’s such a sought-after wedding venue in Staffordshire. The mix of rustic textures, modern design, and beautiful light flooding through the Orangery creates the perfect setting for a heartfelt ceremony.

Throughout the day, I worked alongside Holly to capture everything as it naturally happened—from the ceremony and confetti throw to the emotional speeches in the Party Barn. I didn’t stay for the evening party, but my time ended just after the speeches with a memory card full of moments that told the story of this joyful spring celebration.

My Approach: Real, Unposed Moments

As someone who leans into a documentary style of wedding photography, I’m always looking for those in-between moments that reflect the real energy of the day. Whether it’s a quick glance, a quiet tear, or a big belly laugh, those are the memories that couples will treasure most.

This April wedding at Foxtail Barns was filled with all of that and more encompassing real connections, stunning backdrops and a couple truly surrounded by love.
