Ghosted… But Still Smiling! Why a Quick Reply Matters

Ghosted? Let’s Talk About It 👻

Nothing makes me smile more than a new wedding enquiry landing in my inbox, it’s like opening a little gift from the future! I get excited imagining your day, thinking about the moments I could capture, and planning how to make it as relaxed and beautiful as possible.

But sometimes… I don’t hear back.

I’ve spent time reading your message, replying thoughtfully, asking a few questions so I can better understand your plans, and even suggesting ways we could work together. And then… crickets. A little “meh” feeling sets in.

Here’s the thing: I totally understand! Wedding planning is busy, stressful and full of decisions. You might still be comparing photographers, or maybe life just got in the way. But a quick reply even a simple “thanks, we’re going another direction” makes a huge difference. It shows respect for the time I’ve spent helping you and it keeps communication kind and professional. Now, I’m used to knock-backs—it’s part and parcel of running a small business and I know not every enquiry will turn into a booking. That’s completely normal! What’s tricky is the non-response it leaves things up in the air a bit. I don’t want to keep pestering if you’ve gone in a different direction, but I do want to know, so I can focus on helping other couples and keep things moving. Most importantly, I want you to have an awesome day with whomever you’ve chosen… I just ask, please, let me know! I promise, if you do decide to move forward with me, my replies will always be thoughtful, informative and full of helpful advice. And if not? That’s completely fine too! Just let me know so I can move on with a smile and focus on helping other couples create amazing memories.

So, if you’ve ever found yourself wondering what happens when you don’t reply to a photographer (or any small business), now you know. Ghosting might feel easier in the moment, but a tiny message goes a long way and makes both of our days a little brighter.

And to everyone reading this: let’s leave ghosting to Halloween, okay? 👻
