A Spring Tipi Wedding at Inkersall Grange, Nottinghamshire
There are some wedding days that feel effortless to photograph — where everything unfolds naturally, and the story tells itself. This spring wedding at Inkersall Grange in Nottinghamshire was exactly that.
Working alongside my friend Holly Jo Photography, I documented a relaxed countryside celebration filled with personality, warmth and plenty of moments happening in between the “main events” — exactly where the best storytelling images are found.
A Tipi Wedding in the Nottinghamshire Countryside
Set in the heart of the countryside, Inkersall Grange is the kind of venue that suits couples wanting a relaxed, outdoor-focused wedding with space for guests to move, connect and enjoy the day without formality taking over.
The tipi structure created a naturally intimate space; open, welcoming and perfectly suited to a spring celebration. With the entrance flowing straight into outdoor lawn areas, guests naturally spilled outside throughout the day, keeping everything feeling easy and unforced.
A Spring Wedding with Beautiful Outdoor Energy
The weather played its part perfectly soft spring light, blue skies and that early-season warmth that brings everyone outdoors.
Instead of traditional confetti, bubbles filled the air as the couple exited, adding a playful, light-hearted moment that suited the relaxed tone of the day.
From the start of the afternoon through to the evening, guests made full use of the outdoor space. Lawn games were set up and quickly became a focal point of interaction:
Crazy golf bringing out a competitive streak
Giant Connect 4 keeping both adults and children entertained
Guests laughing, chatting, and moving freely between tipi and garden
These are the kinds of moments that often become the most meaningful when you look back through a wedding gallery, the in-between memories that define how the day felt.
Food, Atmosphere and Shared Moments
The wedding breakfast reflected the same relaxed energy as the rest of the day. Guests were served freshly cooked paella, filling the air with incredible aroma and adding to the communal, festival-style feel of the celebration.
Dessert came in the form of waffles, a simple but memorable touch that added to the informal, enjoyable atmosphere of the day.
Everything about the catering suited the setting perfectly: relaxed, generous, and designed to be shared rather than formalised.
Documentary Wedding Photography at Inkersall Grange
What stood out most throughout the day was the connection between the couple and the people around them. There was no need to stage or direct moments everything unfolded naturally.
My approach to wedding photography is always rooted in storytelling. Observing, anticipating and documenting real interactions as they happen. From quiet glances to laughter during games, these are the moments that build a complete story of a wedding day.
In a setting like Inkersall Grange, that documentary approach works beautifully, the space allows people to be themselves, which is where the strongest imagery comes from.
