Let me tell you about Laura and Grant’s wedding at the stunning Mill Barns waterfront barn venue in Alveley, Shropshire, a day filled with laughter, emotion and the kind of energy that makes documentary wedding photography such a joy.
Laura was truly the life and soul of the day. She didn’t just smile, she laughed her way through the entire celebration, surrounded by the people she loves most.
The couple chose Mill Barns for its beautiful waterside setting and incredible ceremony space, which created the perfect backdrop for a relaxed yet elegant barn wedding.
Laura wore a breathtaking tulle gown with a champagne-toned beaded bodice and white lace overlay. It suited her perfectly being soft, romantic and full of movement. Grant and his groomsmen wore light brown tweed suits, blending beautifully with the rustic tones of the barn.
One of the standout parts of the day was the speeches. The best men delivered a mix of humour and heartfelt stories that had the entire room laughing one moment and tearing up the next — exactly the kind of genuine emotion I love to document.
To add even more fun to the evening, Laura and Grant surprised their guests with singing waiters, which completely transformed the atmosphere and turned the celebration into a full-on party.
I was joined on the day by my second photographer Kate, who has worked extensively alongside my friend Deb, helping us capture the day from multiple angles and ensuring no moment was missed.
As a wedding photographer, my focus is always on real moments such as the laughter, the chaos, the in-between glances and the energy of the day as it naturally unfolds. This wedding was a perfect example of that.
