Some weddings are years in the making and Claire and Simon’s beautiful micro wedding was one of them.
After a number of postponements during COVID-19 pandemic, they finally celebrated their marriage in June 2021 with an intimate gathering at the stunning Falcon Hotel in Uppingham, Rutland. What could have felt like a compromise instead became something incredibly special: a relaxed, meaningful day focused purely on what mattered most.
The Falcon Hotel, a charming 16th-century coaching inn in the heart of Uppingham, provided the perfect backdrop. With its warm character, historic features, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s an ideal venue for couples planning a smaller, more personal wedding celebration in Rutland.
Claire and Simon’s day was a true reflection of a micro wedding at its best, uncomplicated, emotional and full of genuine connection. With a smaller guest list and the realities of the time (yes, face masks and all), there was a sense of closeness and calm that you don’t always get with larger weddings.
From the moment Claire stepped into her dress (and looked absolutely incredible), to those quiet in-between moments shared with loved ones, the day unfolded naturally. No pressure, no big production—just real memories, exactly as they happened.
As a documentary wedding photographer, these are the moments I love most. The subtle glances, the laughter, the emotion captured honestly and without interruption.
Although their original plans had changed, Claire and Simon later celebrated again with a larger gathering so more family and friends could be part of their story. But this day their wedding day remains something truly unique and deeply personal. For our little walk around Uppingham, Claire changed into her second outfit.
