My First Ever West Mill Wedding: Capturing Danielle & Shane’s Story in Derby

Up until July 2021, I had never stepped foot inside the prestigious West Mill at Darley Abbey, just outside Derby city. And oh my word… wow! I had admired this venue countless times on Instagram and always dreamed of photographing a wedding there.

That dream finally came true, though I was assisting my talented friend Holly Whitehall Photography. Many of you know that I collaborate with Holly regularly and we make a great team. On this day, we were also joined by Libby Blunt Videography, adding another layer of magic to the day.

I was tasked with documenting the groom getting ready, one of my absolute favourite moments and capturing different angles throughout the wedding. I live for this kind of storytelling photography and the West Mill made my job effortless with its light, elegance, and charm.

The bride, Danielle, looked stunning in her bridal gown, while Shane’s smile never left his face. With restrictions still in place, the couple decided against speeches, but the day was full of emotion, laughter, and joy.
