Riverside Hotel Wedding – Branston
What a wedding and right on my doorstep too! The Riverside Hotel in Branston is such a wonderful venue for weddings, and I absolutely love photographing here. Over the years, I’ve captured a few weddings at this venue, and each one is full of unique, heartfelt moments. It’s always a pleasure to work somewhere so welcoming, with beautiful grounds that make for incredible photography.
For Becky & Kristian’s 2021 summer wedding, I was assisting my lovely friend Holly, covering the groom and guest arrivals. Holly hires me to do my signature documentary style wedding photography, which focuses on capturing genuine moments rather than posed shots. I approach all weddings this way, whether I’m assisting or leading the photography. My goal is to blend naturally into the day, engaging with guests, observing, and catching authentic smiles, laughter, and quiet moments.
A Beautiful Summer Day at The Riverside Hotel
Becky & Kristian’s day was just perfect. The sun shone brightly, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the venue’s beautiful grounds. Guests were relaxed, soaking in the summer warmth while chatting and laughing, and the whole atmosphere felt joyous and carefree. Becky’s dress was absolutely stunning—she looked incredible—and Kristian’s excitement made every moment of the day even more special to capture.
From the groom’s nervous anticipation to the small, candid interactions between friends and family, every detail told a story. That’s what I love most about documentary wedding photography: it’s all about telling the story of the day naturally. You don’t just get posed portraits—you get memories you’ll want to relive forever.

It offers a picturesque riverside location, beautifully maintained grounds and versatile indoor spaces. Whether it’s a summer wedding with outdoor photos or a cosy winter celebration inside, this venue always works beautifully for photography. I’ve been lucky enough to capture a few weddings here and every time it’s the combination of natural light, relaxed guests, and the venue’s charm that makes my job so enjoyable.
Documentary Wedding Photography in Burton-on-Trent
Working in a documentary wedding style allows me to focus on the real moments. From subtle glances between the couple to children running on the lawn, every interaction is part of the day’s story. I love being invisible yet present, capturing what makes each wedding unique. This approach works especially well at venues like The Riverside Hotel, where guests feel comfortable and the setting is naturally beautiful.
Looking Ahead
I’m thrilled to be returning to The Riverside Hotel next year for another wonderful celebration. Each wedding reminds me why I love this job so much: the happiness, the natural moments, and the chance to give couples memories that last a lifetime.
