Stamford Engagement Photoshoot with Dachshund | Ellie & Daryl
Well… enquiries are already coming in for 2024, which feels pretty amazing.
I’m currently enjoying a little downtime over the festive period—although “downtime” might not be the right word, as I’m still here writing blogs! I’ve never been very good at completely switching off from my business. If I’m not editing (and yes, there is still editing to do), I feel the need to be doing something.
So today felt like the perfect time to revisit and refresh one of my favourite engagement sessions from last summer—especially as so many couples have recently got engaged.
I met up with Ellie and Daryl in their beautiful hometown of Stamford for their engagement photoshoot. It was my first time meeting them in person, and I’ll admit—I always feel a little nervous at the start. But that feeling never lasts long, and within minutes it feels like we’ve known each other for ages.
If you’ve never visited Stamford, I’d highly recommend it. It’s full of charm, character, and stunning backdrops—perfect for a relaxed, natural engagement session.
And of course, they didn’t come alone…
They brought along their miniature dachshund, Lilian.
Now, if you know me at all, you’ll know I’m a huge dog lover—so a couple and a dog photoshoot all in one? That’s my idea of a perfect evening.
Lilian was an absolute star (and Ellie and Daryl, I’m sorry… but she may have stolen the show just a little bit!). She was full of personality and made the whole session feel even more personal and fun.
This is exactly what I love about engagement shoots—capturing couples as they really are, whether that includes muddy boots, laughter, or a four-legged best friend.
Here are just a small selection of Ellie & Daryl’s engagement photos in Stamford… featuring, of course, Lilian 🐾
Why Consider a Pre-Wedding (Engagement) Photoshoot?
If you’re recently engaged and wondering whether to book an engagement session, here are a few reasons why it’s such a worthwhile experience:
1. Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera
Most couples tell me they feel a little unsure about being photographed—and that’s completely normal. An engagement shoot helps you relax and realise it’s not about posing perfectly, but simply being yourselves.
2. Build Trust with Your Photographer
By the time your wedding day arrives, you’ll already feel at ease, knowing exactly how I work and what to expect.
3. Create Beautiful, Meaningful Images
These sessions are much more relaxed than a wedding day, giving us time to capture natural, storytelling images—perfect for save-the-dates, your wedding website, or simply to keep.
4. Include What Matters Most
Whether that’s your favourite location, a meaningful place, or your dog (always welcome, by the way), your engagement session is a chance to make it personal.
Planning Your Own Engagement Photoshoot
If you’re planning your wedding and love the idea of a relaxed, natural engagement session, especially one that includes your dog I’d love to hear from you.
I photograph engagement sessions across Derbyshire, the Midlands and throughout the UK.
