Why I Love Photographing Small & Beautiful Registry Office Weddings
There’s something truly special about a small wedding — the kind where it’s all about the two of you, surrounded by just your closest people (and maybe your dog!). As a photographer, I’ve fallen in love with capturing these more intimate celebrations, whether they’re in a registry office, a cosy venue, or a quiet city corner.
Lately, I’ve been getting more enquiries for short weekday wedding coverage — usually 2 to 3 hours — and I couldn’t be happier. These shorter weddings are often some of the most meaningful to photograph. There’s a calmness to the day, and so much connection. You’re not rushing between big timelines and 100 guests — instead, you get to be fully present, and I get to document the real, honest moments that unfold.
Registry Offices where I photographed a whole lot of love………
Some of my favourite places to photograph these lovely little ceremonies include:
Lichfield Registry Office – a beautiful, light-filled space just a short walk from some perfect portrait spots.
Leicester Town Hall – with its striking staircase and Victorian architecture, it’s a gem in the heart of the city.
Coalville Registry Office – a friendly, no-fuss option for a relaxed and easy-going wedding.
Bridgford Hall, West Bridgford – elegant and stylish, with lovely gardens right on the doorstep.
Loughborough Registry Office - friendly, no-fuss place to get hitched without a hitch.
After the ceremony, we often head out for a relaxed wander — just the three of us (well, four if there’s a pup involved!). This time is always one of my favourite parts of the day: it’s a chance for you to breathe, take it all in, and for me to capture some really natural portraits of you both soaking up your just-married joy.
