Coach House, Darley Abbey - Derby Wedding Photography
As a Derbyshire documentary wedding photographer, I absolutely love capturing intimate celebrations — and this beautiful micro wedding at The Coach House was everything I adore about small weddings. With just 25 guests, the day felt warm, personal, and relaxed, allowing me to focus on the real moments and emotions. The Coach House is a wonderful choice for couples looking for a stylish yet intimate venue in Derbyshire, with plenty of charm and gorgeous spots for candid photography.
Why The Coach House is Perfect for Micro Weddings
The Coach House offers a unique blend of privacy and charm, making it an excellent choice for couples wanting to focus on their closest family and friends. Its flexible layout allows for a seamless flow from the ceremony to the reception, and the stunning architecture combined with the lush gardens creates a beautiful canvas for storytelling through photos.
Photography Highlights at The Coach House
One of the joys of photographing micro weddings here is the opportunity to capture real, unscripted moments — from heartfelt glances between the couple to laughter shared with guests. The venue’s soft natural light and intimate spaces allow me to work unobtrusively, documenting your day in a true documentary style.
Couple portraits by the garden are always a favourite, with the natural surroundings lending themselves perfectly to relaxed, romantic images. Smaller weddings like this allow me to spend more time focusing on details and guests, ensuring every important moment is beautifully preserved.
Personal Insights
Couples choosing The Coach House often appreciate a laid-back approach to their wedding day, which fits perfectly with my style. I love creating a comfortable environment where you can be yourselves, so the photos genuinely reflect your story — no awkward posing or forced smiles.
Planning Your Micro Wedding at The Coach House
If you’re considering The Coach House for your intimate wedding in Derbyshire, you’re choosing a venue that blends elegance with warmth. Whether you’re planning a ceremony in the orangery or a garden party reception, this venue provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxed, story-driven celebration.
The Ceremony - Outdoors
An intimate ceremony with the most gorgeous personal vows with the couple’s close friend as celebrant and another close friend singing one of Alexa and James’ favourite songs by written by Bob Dylan, titled the ‘Wedding Song’. Alexa’s good friend also gave the perfect reading for this truly beautiful couple. Following the ceremony came the confetti as the happy couple walked back down the aisle with the biggest smiles possible. Then there were lots of hugs, chatter and many smiles. It’s just so wonderful seeing so many incredibly happy and emotional moments and even better to document them forever.
Darley Abbey Park - for outdoor lawn games and couple portraits
After welcome drinks and canopes we all walked to the park for photos and to play lawn games. What an absolute giggle with the plastic water filled bowls for a game of Boule where pretty much everyone had a go. There was also time for family and friends to simply chill out and enjoy the gorgeous August sunshine. It was at this time that I took the opportunity to take Alexa and James off for a short time for their portraits together around the Darley Park gardens in similar style to their previous engagement session a few weeks beforehand.
After an hour of so it was time to head back to the Coach House for food and that’s where my day came to an end in terms of wedding photography. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was simply beautiful and I really enjoyed working at the Coach House and hope to capture more beautiful micro weddings there going forward.
