A Beautiful Spring Wedding at Hanbury Barns | Kianna & Mike

Ceremony room at Hanbury Barns in Staffordshire

There is something so special about a wedding at Hanbury Barns. Nestled in the Staffordshire countryside near Burton upon Trent, it is one of those venues that feels relaxed, welcoming and effortlessly beautiful in every season. As a local wedding photographer, it is always a venue I genuinely enjoy returning to.

A year ago today, Kianna and Mike celebrated their wedding here surrounded by sunshine, emotion and all of their favourite people. I had the pleasure of second shooting alongside Adrianne Leafe-Hayes and from the very beginning of the day, there was such a lovely atmosphere.

My coverage began with the final part of the groom preparations before heading across to the venue where guests were beginning to arrive in the warm spring sunshine. Outside, classic Minis added such a timeless touch to the day and suited the countryside barn setting perfectly.

Kianna looked absolutely stunning in her elegant fitted wedding dress, paired beautifully with a gorgeous updo created by the incredibly talented Emma from Platinum Hair. I have worked alongside Emma many times over the years and her calm presence and attention to detail are always wonderful to see on a wedding morning.

The ceremony itself was filled with genuine emotion. One of my favourite moments from the day was seeing Mike holding back tears as Kianna walked down the aisle with her father. Those quiet, heartfelt moments are always the ones that stay with people long after the wedding day itself.

As the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle, guests were treated to a brilliant surprise Hollywood dip which completely caught everyone off guard and brought so much laughter and cheering from family and friends. It was such a fun moment and perfectly reflected their personalities.

With the sun shining throughout the afternoon, guests were able to enjoy drinks and conversations outdoors while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere that makes weddings at Hanbury Barns feel so special. The venue really comes into its own on bright spring and summer days, with beautiful open spaces and soft countryside light everywhere you turn.

The speeches brought the perfect balance of laughter and emotion, with plenty of funny stories mixed in with heartfelt words from those closest to Kianna and Mike. These are often some of my favourite parts of a wedding day to photograph as they capture such natural reactions and genuine connection between people.

Later in the evening, we were treated to the most beautiful golden hour light for portraits outside. Golden hour at Hanbury Barns is always worth making time for and gave us the dreamiest soft light to finish the day.

My coverage came to an end shortly after the lovely father and daughter dance, which felt like such a meaningful way to finish a truly beautiful celebration.
