Georgie & Ryan’s Heartfelt Micro Wedding | St Mary’s Church & Horspool Retreat, Nottinghamshire
Following on from an earlier blog post of Georgie and Ryan’s engagement photoshoot over in Colston Bassett, I’m so happy to now finally share their actual wedding day.
After a postponement due to Covid, their plans were able to go ahead at last and it truly was worth the wait. It was a day filled with so much love, laughter, and genuine emotion from beginning to end.
My coverage began with bridal preparations at Georgie’s home, where she was getting ready alongside her bridesmaids and mum. The morning had such a calm, warm atmosphere, with little moments unfolding naturally including a brief appearance from the cat, who quietly observed from a distance.
There was a real sense of anticipation as the morning progressed. From the arrival of the flowers to the moment Georgie stepped into her dress, the emotion in the room was undeniable. Her gown suited her perfectly, elegant and effortless. It was also lovely to see the beautiful floral work by Zinnia again, having previously worked together at another wedding.
Georgie and Ryan chose to keep their wedding intentionally small, celebrating with their closest family and friends. Their ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church Radcliffe on Trent, a beautiful setting with a wonderfully relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The ceremony itself was incredibly personal and heartfelt. There were so many meaningful glances, quiet moments, and more than a few tears. It remains one of the most emotional ceremonies I’ve had the privilege of photographing.
Afterwards, guests gathered outside the church, sharing hugs, smiles, and conversation before we moved into confetti always one of my favourite parts of the day. A few relaxed family photographs followed before everyone made their way to the reception.
The celebrations continued at Horspool Luxury Retreat. It was my first time photographing a wedding here, and it’s such a peaceful, tucked-away location perfect for a relaxed and intimate celebration.
After some additional family photographs, I took Georgie and Ryan away for a short walk to capture their couple portraits. I always like to give my couples a little breathing space at this point in the day, a chance to pause, take everything in, and simply be together.
We then returned for the speeches, which were a perfect reflection of the day funny, emotional and full of warmth.
As my coverage came to an end, I said my goodbyes and left them to enjoy the rest of their evening with their guests. Not every couple chooses to have their full day documented, and these shorter, more intimate celebrations often have such a special, relaxed feel to them.
