A Joyful Winter Wedding at Washingborough Hall | Jess & Callum

December was a busy time for me wedding wise back in 2021 and I got to photograph at another new place - the gorgeous Washingborough Hall near Lincoln. It’s such a beautiful venue with very a attentive and caring wedding expert looking after everyone on the day. I just adore venues like this - warm and welcoming (with pretty gardens and great food).

Hello and welcome!

This December, I had the pleasure of photographing a truly beautiful wedding at Washingborough Hall. I was assisting my friend, Ryan Jarvis, capturing the day from a documentary perspective. My role is all about being in the right place at the right time — catching the moments that unfold naturally, while offering alternative angles on the ceremony and candid shots of guests as they connect, laugh, and celebrate together.

Guests had traveled from far and wide from America, Australia and closer to home to witness this beautiful union. The ceremony was incredibly personal, incorporating Jewish elements and officiated by the bride’s stepfather. The warmth, love and attention to family traditions made it one of those weddings where every moment feels meaningful.

As with all December weddings, timing is key for portraits. We made sure to capture the couple and family shots early, so the fading winter light wouldn’t limit us and so guests could relax and enjoy themselves without waiting. Weather is always a wildcard in December, but with patience and flexibility, everything fell perfectly into place.

The reception was full of laughter, heartfelt speeches and joyful celebration as two families came together. After a long wait due to Covid, the day felt like a release full of warmth, hugs, and pure happiness. I loved floating around, quietly capturing moments: glances, smiles, shared jokes, and the little interactions that make each wedding unique.

This was a winter wedding that truly embodied love, connection, and celebration and I feel so lucky to have witnessed it through my lens. With Ryan and I working together, we ensured every precious moment was documented in a natural, unobtrusive way that reflects the true spirit of the day.

If you’re planning a wedding that feels personal, elegant, and authentic, I would love to hear your plans.

I photograph weddings across Derbyshire, the Midlands, and throughout the UK, capturing natural, storytelling imagery that stands the test of time.
