Micro Wedding & Elopement Photographer in Derbyshire & Across the UK
Micro weddings and elopements are about stripping everything back to what truly matters, the people you love, the atmosphere of the day and the quiet in-between moments that often mean the most.
I’m a Derbyshire-based wedding photographer working across the UK, capturing intimate celebrations in a natural, documentary style. My focus is on honest storytelling, nothing forced, nothing overly staged, just real moments as they unfold.
My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing your day to unfold naturally without interruption. I’ll gently guide you when it helps create natural, unposed moments especially during smaller weddings where there’s more focus on just the two of you but for the most part, I’m quietly documenting things as they happen.
This means you can stay fully present in your day, without feeling like you’re constantly being photographed.
Perfect for intimate weddings, typically with under 30 guests, where the atmosphere is relaxed, personal and meaningful. Whether you’re planning a simple registry or church ceremony, a countryside celebration, or a laid-back gathering with your closest people, the coverage is shaped around your timeline rather than a rigid schedule.

How to choose the right micro wedding or elopement photographer
Choosing the right photographer for a micro wedding or elopement is about more than just liking the images, it’s about finding someone whose approach fits the feel of your day.
With smaller, more intimate weddings, you’re often sharing your day with just a handful of your closest people, which means your photographer becomes a quiet presence in those moments rather than someone directing them.
Look for someone whose work feels natural and unposed and whose focus is on real moments rather than overly staged photographs. It’s also important to choose a photographer who understands how to work with shorter coverage, where the timing of the day is more relaxed and fluid.
Most importantly, you should feel comfortable with how they work especially if you’re not used to being in front of the camera. The right photographer will help you feel at ease without ever taking you out of the moment.
Smaller celebrations create space for genuine emotion. With fewer distractions and a more relaxed pace, your day can unfold naturally and that’s where meaningful photographs happen.
Micro weddings are perfect for couples who:
prefer authentic moments over lots of staged photos
want a calm, personal experience
are planning a registry office, town hall ceremony or outdoors in the hills, lakes and mountains
value storytelling over tradition
want photography that feels honest and unobtrusive
My role is simple: observe, anticipate and document the atmosphere of your day as it really happens.
Coverage options for small weddings
Micro weddings don’t need full-day coverage and that’s completely fine.
Typical coverage includes:
2–4 hour options
Ceremony + portraits + relaxed celebration
All week availability
Registry office and town hall weddings (not forgetting those beautiful spaces outdoors)
Flexible timelines
Starting investment: from £600 (for full pricing options, please click here)
Extra note for couples:
When guest numbers are small and coverage is shorter, we often have time for a relaxed wander together no awkward posing, no pressure. Many couples just chat, laugh, explore or dance and I quietly capture those natural moments and your connection. Sometimes I give a little gentle direction to spark a reaction but mostly couples just forget I’m there, enjoying each other, their day and the small details. Oh and if it rains, we just embrace it and grab a brolly.
What documentary style with a slight editorial edge means for you
No forced posing, we’re after personality here - your love. No interruptions. No pressure to perform.
I will work quietly and attentively, focusing on:
natural interactions
emotional reactions
atmosphere and environment
storytelling across the whole experience
You get photographs that feel like memories not a photoshoot (as such). The time allows for more couple time together.

✨ Micro Wedding & Elopement FAQs
-
A micro wedding is a smaller, more intentional celebration, usually with fewer than 30 guests. It keeps the focus on meaningful moments, relaxed time with your closest people, and a more personal atmosphere than a traditional full-day wedding.
-
Yes, registry office and town hall ceremonies are a big part of the small weddings I photograph.
-
Coverage is completely documentary in style, capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. This can include guest arrivals, the ceremony, candid moments and time for relaxed portraits together if you’d like them.
-
Most micro weddings work really well with 2–4 hours of photography. This typically covers the ceremony, natural moments with guests and relaxed couple portraits without feeling rushed or overly structured.
-
Of course. Even with smaller weddings, there’s usually a mix of candid guest moments and a few relaxed group or family images if you’d like them included.
-
Not at all. Most couples feel this way. My approach is very relaxed, so there’s no pressure to pose or perform. I’ll gently guide you when needed but the focus is always on natural moments rather than staged photos.
-
Yes, I photograph both. Elopements are often even more intimate, sometimes just the two of you and the approach is the same: natural, unobtrusive storytelling with gentle guidance when needed.
-
Yes. I’m based in Derbyshire but regularly photograph intimate weddings across the Midlands and throughout the UK.
-
Not necessarily. Many micro weddings don’t need full-day coverage. Shorter coverage often works better, allowing you to focus on the key parts of your day without feeling like the photography is taking over.
-
Micro weddings and elopements can book up quite quickly, especially for weekends and peak seasons. As soon as you have a date, it’s best to get in touch to secure availability.
Natural, heartfelt wedding photography that feels like your day not a performance.
