Micro Wedding & Elopement Photographer in Derbyshire & Across the UK
Micro weddings and elopements are about stripping everything back to what truly matters: the people you love, the atmosphere of the day and those quiet in-between moments that often mean the most.
I’m a Derbyshire-based wedding photographer photographing intimate weddings, micro weddings and elopements across the UK. My approach is relaxed, natural and unobtrusive, with a focus on honest storytelling rather than anything overly staged or traditional.
Whether you're planning a two-hour registry office wedding, a small church ceremony, an intimate countryside celebration or an elopement somewhere in the hills, lakes or mountains, your photography can be shaped around the way you actually want to spend your day.
I’ll gently guide you when it helps, particularly during couple photographs, but for the most part I’m there to quietly observe, anticipate and capture things as they happen. You can enjoy your day, spend time with the people you love and actually be present in it, without feeling like you're constantly being photographed.
Micro weddings are often about the things that get lost in a larger celebration: the conversations, the laughter, the nerves before the ceremony, a quiet walk together, a squeeze of a hand or the way you look at each other when nobody else is watching.
That’s the kind of story I want your photographs to tell.
Perfect for intimate weddings, typically with under 30 guests, coverage is shaped around your plans rather than a rigid full-day schedule. Whether you need two hours or something longer, we can focus on the parts of your wedding that matter most to you.

How to Choose the Right Micro Wedding or Elopement Photographer
Shorter coverage requires a photographer who knows how to make the most of the time available without making the day feel rushed. With a smaller wedding, there's often no need to photograph every traditional element of a full wedding day. The focus can instead be on the ceremony, the people who matter most, some relaxed photographs of the two of you and the moments in between.
Micro weddings are perfect for couples who:
prefer authentic moments over lots of staged photos
want a calm, personal experience
are planning a registry office or town hall ceremony, a small church wedding or an outdoor celebration in the hills, lakes or mountains
value storytelling over tradition
want photography that feels honest and unobtrusive
don't want their wedding to revolve around photography
would rather spend time together than spend hours posing
My role is simple: observe, anticipate and document the atmosphere of your day as it really happens.
Micro Wedding & Elopement Photography Packages
Micro weddings and elopements don't automatically need full-day photography. Sometimes two, three or four hours is enough to tell the story of your day beautifully.
Typical coverage includes:
2–4 hour options
Ceremony + portraits + relaxed celebration
All week availability
Registry office and town hall weddings (not forgetting those beautiful spaces outdoors)
Flexible timelines
Not sure how much coverage you need? I've explained exactly what can be covered in 2–4 hours here.
Starting investment: from £600 (for full pricing options, please click here)
Extra note for couples:
When guest numbers are small and coverage is shorter, we often have time for a relaxed wander together no awkward posing, no pressure. Many couples just chat, laugh, explore or dance and I quietly capture those natural moments and your connection. Sometimes I give a little gentle direction to spark a reaction but mostly couples just forget I’m there, enjoying each other, their day and the small details. Oh and if it rains, we just embrace it and grab a brolly.
A Natural Approach with a Slight Editorial Edge
No forced posing. No pressure to perform. And no interruptions every five minutes because your photographer needs “just one more”.
I work quietly and attentively, looking for the moments that happen naturally while also paying attention to the light, surroundings and little details that help tell the story of your day.
That means capturing:
natural interactions
genuine emotion
reactions and connections
the atmosphere and surroundings
the little details you'll want to remember
the story of the day as it unfolds
There will be times when I'll give you a little gentle direction, particularly when we're taking photographs of the two of you. But I'm not interested in turning your wedding into a photoshoot.
You get photographs that feel like memories rather than a collection of posed images. And because we're not spending hours disappearing off for photographs, there's more time for you to actually enjoy being together.

✨ Micro Wedding & Elopement FAQs

A micro wedding is a smaller, more intentional celebration, usually with fewer than 30 guests. It keeps the focus on meaningful moments, relaxed time with your closest people, and a more personal atmosphere than a traditional full-day wedding.
-
Yes, registry office and town hall ceremonies are a big part of the small weddings I photograph.

Coverage is completely documentary in style, capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. This can include guest arrivals, the ceremony, candid moments and time for relaxed portraits together if you’d like them.

Most micro weddings work really well with 2–4 hours of photography. This typically covers the ceremony, natural moments with guests and relaxed couple portraits without feeling rushed or overly structured.

Of course. Even with smaller weddings, there’s usually a mix of candid guest moments and a few relaxed group or family images if you’d like them included.

Not at all. Most couples feel this way. My approach is very relaxed, so there’s no pressure to pose or perform. I’ll gently guide you when needed but the focus is always on natural moments rather than staged photos.

Yes. I’m based in Derbyshire but regularly photograph intimate weddings across the Midlands and throughout the UK.

Micro weddings and elopements can book up quite quickly, especially for weekends and peak seasons. As soon as you have a date, it’s best to get in touch to secure availability.
